Arts at CERN's show at the Barcelona Science Biennial
8-15 June
The Barcelona City and Science Biennial celebrates its second edition in 2021. From 8-15 June, Arts at CERN presents an exhibition at CosmoCaixa Barcelona with four works of art resulting from the artists' work and research at CERN.
The City and Science Biennial's programme includes panel discussions, lectures, film screenings, exhibitions, concerts and open-air activities exploring and reflecting on the limits of science and knowledge.
The exhibition Arts at CERN: when art and particle physics collide at CosmoCaixa includes four works of art developed after the artists' research and work in the Laboratory. These works explore how the big questions about our universe are pursued by fundamental science, while showing how particle physics and arts are inextricably linked in the exciting search for human knowledge. The exhibition is curated by head of Arts at CERN Mónica Bello, and the curators of the Science Biennial Irma Vilà and Pau Alsina.
The artworks in the exhibition are Ionize, ionize!, 2020 by Alan Bogana, Mass, 2020 by Pierre Pauze and June Balthazard, Through the AeGIS, 2017 by Semiconductor (Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt), Whiteout, 2020 by Rosa Menkman.
