Inter-World-View Series 2020
Between 15-21 October, the Inter-World-View Series 2020 is a special event of the World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS) co-curated by Arts at CERN.
Co-curated by Arts at CERN, the Inter-World-View Series 2020 presents a series of cross-disciplinary debates on universal questions - an approach both artistic and scientific, with international speakers from a wide range of disciplines. Co-organized by the China Academy of Art and the Zheijang Association for Science and Technology, the event takes place from 15-21 October in Hangzhou and Wenzhou (China).
Questioning is inherent to human nature. Our essence is to look for the never-changed eternality behind the ever-changing world. Both science and art build the establishments of human worldviews, as well as redefine human life by thought experiments. “Different paths lead to the same destination” is the basis for the communication between art and science.
During seven days, the dialogues will take place structured in seven dichotomous but intrinsically related counterparts: Science | Knowledge (Great unity of all Knowledges), Physics | Metaphysics (Where Empiricism ends, Speculation starts), Quantum | Anima (Spooky Action and Life Order), Universe | Civilization, (Link of Universe and Man), Intelligence | Art (Co-evolution of the 2AIs), Crisis | Change (Radical Market and Thought Experiments), Anticipation | Imagination (Question of All questions).
For each part, three guests from different disciplines will give a speech responding to the subtopics, followed by a panel talk with the opportunity for each speaker to share their “worldview”. Keynote speakers include Monica Bello, Curator & Head of Arts at CERN, physicist Jose Ignacio Latorre, and artists that have participated in Arts at CERN Programmes: Yunchul Kim, Suzanne Treister, Lea Porsager, Semiconductor, Raqs Media Collective.
The Inter-World-View 2020 is joint-sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the China Academy of Art. This sub-forum is part of the World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS), sponsored by CAST and the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province and organized by Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology and Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government.
