Cassandre Poirier-Simon

Collide Geneva Award 2016

Cassandre Poirier-Simon founded the digital communication agency Myth_n in 2016, which works with museums, teachers, authors and cultural institutions. She graduated from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Toulouse and earned a Master’s degree in Media Design at HEAD – Geneva in 2012. Since then, she has become an expert in the field of digital narration and experiences. She specializes in hybrid, poetic narrative systems between the tangible and the digital, at the crossroads of different types of narrative media. Poirier-Simon gives more or less experimental lectures at conferences on digital literature (Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Labo de l’Edition in Paris, Center for Future Publishing in Geneva) and exhibits her interactive stories. She holds digital creation workshops, with educational video games on diversity, citizenship and the environment for use in the classroom or museums. She is also a digital culture mediator at the Geneva Municipal Libraries where she organizes exhibitions, workshops and conferences on digital culture.

In 2016, she received the Collide Geneva Award in digital writing. During her time at CERN, Poirier-Simon organized a digital writing workshop with CERN scientists. Researching about the notion of time as non-linear but related to space, the goal of this workshop was to lay the foundation of a tool that allows for telling stories using Google Street View, which now contains CERN external spaces and experimental areas. Read more about her experience at CERN and the stories of the scientists during her workshop in her blog.
