
Vladimir Tarasov
2019 Guest Artist
Vladimir Tarasov (1947) is an artist and musician born in Archangelsk, Russia. Since 1968 he has lived and worked in Vilnius, Lithuania. For many years Tarasov performed with the Lithuanian Symphonic Orchestra and other symphonic, chamber, and jazz orchestras in Lithuania, Europe and the USA. Since 1991 he has been working in the visual arts, both solo, and collaborating with artists such as Ilya Kabakov and Sarah Flohr.
In 2019, Vladimir Tarasov visited CERN invited as a Guest Artist and as a guest speaker at the cultural program of the CERN Open Days. During the open days, Tarasov gave a concert at the CMS Experiment and at the CERN Auditorium. Tarasov also participated in the panel discussion Future Science and Art Collaborations with John Ellis, CERN theoretical physicist and Mónica Bello, head and curator of Arts at CERN.
His Guest Artist visit, performance and participation in the cultural activities of Arts at CERN and the Open Days of CERN were supported by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Lithuania to the United Nations Office, other international organizations in Geneva and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
